How Does PPC Stack Up To Other Methods Of Advertising?
In this article I would like to compare ppc with other forms of advertising. In my experience each method has advantages and disadvantages.
First of all how does ppc compare to natural search engine listings. This has been my experience and most internet marketers will probably tell you the same thing. Natural search engine listings convert much better than ppc listings. Let us look at the reasons why. You see with natural search engine listings people tend to react better as it is not paid advertising. For example if someone recommends a product on a blog then a visitor will likely believe this more than a ppc advert that they see.
While it does take a lot of work to get links and content I feel the benefit is more than ppc as the traffic that you get will convert better. Newbies usually waste a lot of money on ppc and then give up. Especially with the competition on Google Adwords it is becoming a lot more difficult to succeed.
Personally I find that a newbie has a better chance of succeeding by starting a blog. It is really easy to update and you can add lots of content that the search engines will love. You can get a few important directory listings. After this write articles and submit it regularly to the major article directories to get backlinks that will boost your search engine rankings. Just remember to optimize your tile tags and body text of content to keywords that are searched. You can use a free tool like Wordtracker to do this.
Then their are other methods like ezine advertising, safelists, traffic exchanges and web 2.0 traffic. These all work, but I would suggest like ppc you use these at a later stage when you have a backend system that is tweaked for maximum profits so that you can work out your return on investment and advertise cleverly.
